African Clothing Stories & Inspiration

We wanted to start 2021 of with a bang! Our aim this year is to expand our operations out in The Gambia. Providing even more employment opportunities and support to Gambian artisans and creatives as possible. Of course this will mean we will be covering you in more colour than ever! The first collection of the year is called African Spirit! Why? Its simple really, during the creation of this collection we wanted to capture the spirit of Africa in each and every design, using more traditional materials and using African creative talent to help launch it!

We’ve used some truly incredible prints in this collection. We’ve used the earthy Mud Cloth, the vivid Samakaka, the iconic Dashiki, the infamous Kente, and the abundant Anakara. Prints from across the continent have been sourced, and capturing the spirit of where they came from has been a truly inspiring challenge. We wanted big and bold designs to match the prints, and we are sure you will agree, we’ve nailed it. We have over 20 new designs launching in the coming weeks and months, so keep your eye out.

To capture the ‘African Spirit”, we sought the very best in Gambian creative talent and created a creative development program that aims to nurture their progress! Mohemed, the man behind Bitz photography and Lena Nia Photography are two up and coming photographers and producers, both are Gambian born and bread! They share an aura of creativity not often seen in the country and we were so happy to start working with these guys. We quite literally asked them to capture the urban spirit of Gambia in their shots, and that just what they did!
